He worked at KPMG from 1990–1994 before moving to Sioux Falls to join L.G. Everist Inc.

In 2002, Henkhaus helped split L.G. Everist Inc. into two separate companies: The Everist Company and L.G. Everist.

After serving as chief financial officer at L.G. Everist until 2006, Henkhaus moved to The Everist Company and has presided there since. His current role is family office head.

Henkhaus has served on numerous boards in the Sioux Falls community, including the Helpline Center, the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Sioux Falls, the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship, the Washington Pavilion, Levitt at the Falls, South Dakota Salutes, the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, and the Chamber of Commerce Community Appeals.

Presently, he works with the Sanford Health Foundation and the Muth Electric advisory board — in addition to his new role on the FNBSF board of directors.

Henkhaus and his wife of 27 years, Ann, have four children: Peter (24), Joseph (21), Will (19), and Sarah (16).

In his spare time, Henkhaus enjoys golfing, playing soccer, traveling, and taking in live music and sporting events. During baseball season, you’ll find him faithfully cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.
