The calendar has flipped to August. Soon, the Sioux Falls streets will be bustling with yellow school busses and playgrounds once again will fill with the shouts and laughs of kids at play during recess.
As we gear up for another school year, the time has come to pack your kids’ backpacks with new crayons, markers, notebooks, and folders. You’re making sure your they have everything they need to succeed.
Just as you’re buying your kids’ school supplies, their teachers are too. According to a survey by the U.S. Department of Education, 94 percent of U.S. teachers spend their own money on supplies for their classrooms. From decorations, to cleaning supplies, to extra games or accessories for fun learning activities, they use parts of their paychecks to create personalized learning environments for their students.
The First National Bank in Sioux Falls would like to give a special thank-you to all of the teachers and educators who invest their time and talents in educating the next generation.
Addie Graham-Kramer, founder and CEO of The Event Company, serves on the board for the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation. For Addie, it was people like her high school journalism teacher who spent countless after-school hours and her own money to provide supplies for her journalism students, and undoubtedly played a role in inspiring her to become the public relations and event planning professional she is today.
