“My dad always said, ‘If you get your work done, find more work to do.’”
From growing up on my family’s dairy and hog farm in northwest Iowa, I’ve been immersed in the agriculture community my entire life.
We had the typical farm-family picture where we’re all in the grain elevator, and we lined up in our winter coats after filling the corn crib; that’s one of the big memories that sticks out from my childhood.
To this day, I continue to farm with my dad and brother on our row crop operation. I can’t be there all the time, though, which is why I love visiting our customers’ operations and riding along in the combine, tractor, or sprayer!
Another favorite aspect of my role is working with farmers and ranchers on solutions, whether it be helping you to reach your goals or simply being a source of information and advice. I have 20+ years of experience in the banking industry to offer, and I’ve completed the Graduate School of Banking program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
My wife, Jen, and I have three kids, Sam, Sophie, and Sydney, who keep us busy with their various activities.
I remain actively involved with the Agribusiness Pillar of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, First Presbyterian Church, SDSU, and traveling.
Definitely my most daring adventure was when Jen and I traveled to Brazil, rented a car, and drove from Rio de Janeiro to Juiz de Fora to visit her foreign exchange family.
