“You don’t think of a bank as just giving away money,” Tamera Jerke-Liesinger, Executive Director of The Banquet, said.

“You don’t think of a bank as just giving away money. That’s not what you think of when you think of bank.”

For us here at The First National Bank in Sioux Falls, we don’t want to be what people usually think of when they think of a bank. We want to be more than that. We want to share our time, talents, treasures, and ideas to make our communities better places to live.

That’s why we’ve given a total of $60,000 to local non-profits through our GiveFirst initiative since 2013. This year, we’re adding another $10,000 to that number.

GiveFirst has given local non-profits their chance to win big once again. By using the hashtag #FNBGiveFirst during the month of October, community members nominated their favorite local non-profits. Then, throughout the month of November, we held a bracket competition. The non-profits with the most votes each week moved forward until only four remained. During the final week of the competition, the final four faced off for a grand prize of $4,000 and the three runners-up each receiving $2,000.

GiveFirst is our way of raising awareness for all the wonderful local non-profit organizations by inviting the community to participate and decide the winners.

We are thankful to all of the area non-profits that share our mission of making our communities better places to live. It’s the work they do each day that makes a difference for so many. We are honored to give back to four of these wonderful non-profit organizations. Read their stories below:
