Each week we’ll be showing you who we are through FNB Family Fridays! We’ve asked our friends and teammates questions that will give you a look into what they do at the Bank, their hobbies outside of work, and some of their favorite things. Be sure to check back here every Friday to read about another featured team member. We have some interesting people we work with every day!
Our featured employee this week is one of our Business Bankers, Tom Ries!
Q: Tell us about your background. Where you grew up, where you went to school, industry experience, and volunteer work (if applicable).
A: I grew up in Eden Prairie, MN, until I moved to Sioux Falls to attend Augustana University. I played football and graduated with a B.A. in business administration and a finance emphasis. I met my wife Jess at Augustana, and she is a teacher in Sioux Falls. I worked at First Bank & Trust as a credit analyst for 2 years then a business banker for 4+ years. I am on the YPN Steering Committee, an active Junior Achievement volunteer, I enjoy serving at Embrace Church when I can, and am passionate about supporting the work Mission Haiti is doing.
Q: What have you gained from working at FNB?
A: Over the course of the last month I’ve gained an incredible appreciation for the effect that always doing the right thing can have on an organization as a whole.
Q: What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with FNB?
A: My hope for the next 10 years is to build on an incredible history of relationship building at FNBSF.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?
A: I enjoy hunting, camping, cooking, triathlons, and reading.
Q: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
A: I think John Krasinski would be a good fit so long as it wasn’t while he is training for his Jack Ryan role!
